Updates
What I Need Electives start this week! “What I need” (WIN) periods are tier 1 academic intervention system periods. These are student-centered learning times that are based on students’ academic and social-emotional needs, and personal learning interests. See this page for details. Email [email protected] if you have questions or concerns.
Saturday November 4th: Community Block Party
This Saturday, we are partnering with Gotham Park and other community organizations to host a block party right by school - there will be music, food, kids' activities, free classes, skateboarding demos, basketball tournaments for kids + adults facilitated by our campus girls' team, and more! We need volunteers! Please fill out this form if you can support. Email [email protected] with questions.
Work-Based Learning
There are many opportunities available for students as the year goes on. Save this link to see new internships, trips, and events updated each week. Some opportunities that are available:
- Stadium Goods Worksite Tour and Workshops: In this 2 part session we will be visiting the market center where SG does intake on new items (we will even test your ability to spot fakes vs authentic sneakers!) and then look at the retail space and discuss their branding and retail strategy.
- High School Heroes: Students will be trained to teach 5 lessons to elementary students over the course of one day. They will partner with classroom teachers to implement lessons. Great for anyone who wants to be a teacher, counselor, social worker, or other childcare worker
- CS4All’s Pathfinders Internship Program provides New York City high school students interested in pursuing computer science careers with their first workplace experience. The program is a 4 month internship that runs throughout the Spring and Summer. During this time, students will engage in 10 hours of hands-on career preparation and work readiness trainings, and 60 hours of on-the-job industry work experience.
- All applications available: click here
- Email [email protected] with questions.
What is my student learning about?
