Dear Maker Family,
We hope your new year is off to a great start! Here at Maker we are excited to bring in the new year with exciting events and midyear Regents support and administration. See the outline below and more details linked in the newsletter.
- On January 15th we will have the ribbon cutting for our hydroponic farm! We have hired a new Farmer Educator, Francesca, who will be hosting class visits and tours, and look forward to welcoming you for a visit. You can also anticipate your children coming home with Maker-grown produce for you to cook up.
- To honor MLK Jr.’s Legacy we will continue our annual tradition with a Day of Service here at Maker. Please join us on Jan 20th from 10AM-3PM! See details within.
- We will administer Regents the week of January 20th. See the schedule below. Here’s how to navigate:
- All 11th graders are taking the English Regents on Tuesday, January 21 at 9:00AM
- All 9th graders are taking a mock Algebra 1 Regents on Thursday, January 23 at 1:00PM
- All other students are only taking exams if they previously did not pass an exam that they sat for.
- Wondering if your child is supposed to take an exam? Ask AP Chad Frade at [email protected]
Here’s to a fantastic January!
Best,
Amy

Regents Schedules
Regents Week is fromTuesday, January 21st—Monday, January 27th. Students should only come to school when taking an exam. ALL students return to school on Tuesday, January 28th. This will be the first day of marking period 4. We’ve reached the exact middle of the school year!
MLK Day of Service
Join us on January 20th from 10 am to 1 pm.
We will be beautifying common spaces in the school building, cleaning up the local community, and working with senior citizen groups from local housing projects to brainstorm what we want to include in a community mural in the park across the street.
Academic Spotlights
