Dear Maker Families,
Thank you for joining us in honoring Black History Month at Maker. We were inspired by the student and staff-led workshops and hope you also experienced the joy whether in person at our PA Bakesale or on Instagram (@uamakesthefuture) where we highlighted some of our amazing workshops, including a jam session centered on the Legacy of Black Rock, making Seed-Bombs with Urban farming, a workshop centering Black Comic Characters and so much more. As we head into March, see our newsletter about Women's History month and bringing back our Museum of Influential Women.
The start of March also marks spring's pending arrival, and we're taking the energy of last Sunday's beautiful weather to plant our seeds for so many exciting things. This week alone, we have a college trip to Morgan State, Mock US History and Global Regents, a trip to JA Finance Park and our Senior Legacy Project Launch. All of these things represent the many ways we're supporting Makers in stepping into their futures! Next week brings the end of Marking Period 4 shortly followed by our Student Led Conferences where you'll hear your children update you on their progress towards their futures as well. We look forward to this journey together!
In partnership,
Amy & The Leadership Team

Maker students will be participating in a citywide day about Social Emotional Learning with the Urban Assembly Network.
Gradewide Trips
11th graders are going to JA Finance Park either March 7th or 8th with their advisories (get those permission slips in ASAP!) and 9th graders are going to the Met Museum with Global History classes

Spring 2024 Movers and Makers Benefit Event
Our spring 2024 fundraiser will be held on April 17th from 6-9 pm at 208 West 13th St. in Manhattan.
Join us for an evening to celebrate and raise money for the Urban Assembly Maker Academy. We will have hors d'ouevres, drinks, music, as well as showcases of student work and hands-on workshops so you can become a Maker for the evening.
Funds raised at this event will be used for college and training program scholarships, to purchase technology to keep our programs modern and up-to-date, and for enrichment field trips and activities. Your support will help us meet the needs of our students and prepare them for the ever-changing world of college and careers.
