NYPL Learn to Draw with Procreate & Digital Art Challenge!
 
Challenge Theme: Banned Book Covers
All you have to do to participate is attend one of our upcoming digital art classes and submit digital artwork that recreates or reimagines the cover of one of your favorite banned books for the chance to see your work at a special showcase for participants in this challenge.
 
For a list of suggestions of banned or challenged books whose covers you could reimagine, check out NYPL’s Banned Book Reading List.

Spring Sessions with Willie Mae Rock Camp
Welcome to a unique experience hosted by the Willie Mae Rock Camp entitled: Digital Mentorship - Future Sounds Orchestra Program. This exciting after-school program offers scholars the chance to make new friends and learn how to be creative with electronic music and digital instruments - a journey that culminates in a performance at Lincoln Center as part of The Dream Experience by Nona Hendrix.
 
Digital Mentorship - Future Sounds Orchestra Program
Tuesdays and Thursdays, May - June 18th (3:45pm - 6:00pm).
Showcase at Lincoln Center
Food, giveaways, and additional resources provided
This opportunity is free and open to girls and gender expansive young people (ages 11-17). No experience required.

Activities include:
  • Weekly workshops 
  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Hands on experience with digital music software and electronic instruments
  • Music production and performance
  • Live performance at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
 
Summer 2024 Industry Scholars Program

ISP Summer 2024 Internship cycle will run from July 8th – August 16th for a total of 150 hours. Summer internships will be FULLY in-person this cycle.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE for FIT Summer Pre-College Interior Design Program
 
Our partners in the Interior Design department at FIT are offering limited scholarships to Maker students who would like to participate in the interior design program this summer. 
 
Course Description
Learn about the interior design industry by working on a client-based project. You will design a floor plan, elevation, and rendering with surface and furniture samples for a specific customer. You will explore resources available to the NYC interior designer, and a get a feel for the industry.

Sound Thinking NYC Summer Intensive
SOUND THINKING NYC is now offering a FREE FOUR-WEEK SUMMER INTENSIVE for NYC public high school students interested in exploring how to turn their passion for music into a possible career.

STNYC is a program of the CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) and NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME). Sound Thinking advances gender and racial equity in New York City's thriving music industry by bringing together a community of young people to learn about careers, train in music production, build leadership skills, and network with industry professionals. We are excited to invite all NYC public high school students to apply for the 2024 Summer Program.

The Sound Thinking Summer Intensive

Program will run one 4-week Intensive.

Deadline to submit application is: May 6th, 2024

The Summer Intensive is open to current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students who will be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the Fall of 2024.

Cornell Precollege Summer Program - ONLINE

Cornell’s Precollege Studies application is now open for summer online courses.

 

Choose a three- or six-week course (or combine two for a nine-week program), study with Cornell faculty, and earn up to twelve credits and a Cornell transcript. Courses run between June 3 and August 6.

 

During the summer, you can select from more than 90 regular undergraduate Cornell courses in Arts and Architecture, Business and Hotel Management, Health and Humanities, International Relations, Psychology, Science and Technology, Sustainability, Veterinary Medicine, and more! More courses will be added in the coming months.

 

The application deadline is May 5. Limited financial aid is available.

 
 
Manhattan District Attorney Summer Programs
 
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has two openings for the 2024 Gun Violence Prevention Fellowship. The three-month fellowship offers young adults affected by gun violence an immersive platform to work with our staff on transformative strategies. At the end of the program, the fellows will present the District Attorney with innovative policy or legislative solutions to address gun violence. The fellows will be paid minimum wage.
 
The Manhattan District Attorney’s High School Internship Program is a rigorous five-week internship that provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in workshops and discussions, participate in a mock trial program, develop professionalism in an office setting, and more. Interns will be paid minimum wage.
 
 
 
Dr. Beverly J. Robinson Community Folk Culture Program Internship 
 
Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center in the Northeast Bronx conducts classes for children, teens and adults in music, dance, theater, martial arts, Pre-K and community folk culture studies. We are recruiting now for an exciting paid internship program in the Dr. Beverly J. Robinson Community Folk Culture Program. The summer internship program is open to ages 14-21.  Applicants must submit this form by April 15th. 
 
Through this special paid internship opportunity:
 
  • Learn to interview & document masterful artists, craft artisans, tradition-bearers, & community members
  • Sharpen skills in photography, videography & community research
  • Work with program team to produce public presentations that share exciting performances, cultural traditions and history with youth and community audiences of all ages
  • Take trips to cultural events, art galleries, museums & more
  • Connect with other youth to share arts, style, and culture
New participants will receive a $500 and returning interns will receive $600 or more upon successful completion of the 5-week internship program. The full stipend is based on interns' attendance, participation, punctuality, and completion of all assignments.

TECH360 Summer Bootcamp

 

TECH360 is a FREE, 3-week training program for rising juniors and seniors enrolled in high school. Students enrolled in the program learn the fundamentals of web design and development from AOT instructors and software engineers working at technology companies. Students who complete the program will receive a $500 stipend. 

 

WHO: Current high school sophomores or juniors / rising juniors or seniors 

WHEN: July 1 - July 18 OR July 29 - August 15; Monday-Thursday from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM 

WHERE: Mostly Zoom, 2 sessions will be in-person
